• Lead-free crystal

Each material has its own advantages and disadvantages. Swarovski crystal is the most shiny, but also the most fragile. Lead crystal is also a "soft" material, but less fragile than the beautiful product mentioned above. Lead-free crystal is the most resistant material, nowadays reinforced by the addition of titanium oxide. In other words, lead-free crystal is actually titanium crystal.

The raw material for Swarovski crystal is also made from a melt, which is produced in a similar way to lead crystal. Both melts also contain similar materials, but of course each has different additives. While in all cases we are talking about crystals, the most typical difference is in the amount of lead oxide used. While Swarovski crystals contain 30% lead oxide, lead crystals contain 24%. In lead-free crystals, titanium oxide is typically used instead of lead oxide in recent times. The addition of these is essential to obtain the correct result. It is no coincidence that this particular material has been developed by a company that is also involved in crystal polishing. However, in addition to the material itself, a very precise laser cutting technology is essential to make the Swarovski crystal shine, not to mention the design.
